Reasons to do a Race Day

  1. Like we said: booze, bonding and betting. It’s a dream combination!
  2. You might pick a winner on the horse races, meaning you’re making money rather than simply spending it.
  3. You can spend time outdoors guzzling beers and soaking up the sunshine.
  4. You have the choice between Auckland, NZ’s biggest city, or Queensland’s Gold Coast.
  5. You’ll experience the adrenaline rush of cheering for your horse as the race is underway, the thoroughbreds are hot on each other’s heels and the commentator is talking at lightning-fast place. Who will win? Who knows? Hopefully it’ll be your stallion!

Available Locations:

Auckland

Auckland has a seemingly endless selection of activities that includes plenty of sporting events. In fact, Auckland was named the third best sporting city in the world at the 2014 SportBusiness Ultimate Sports Cities Awards. There’s the ATP Auckland Open for tennis fans. The Barfoot and Thompson World Triathlon brings some of the globe’s best athletes to Auckland. And you can’t beat Eden Park, New Zealand’s largest sporting stadium. It’s the place to watch live rugby and cricket matches in Auckland and check out a large number of international events.

As well as sport, Auckland has a swag of other things to do. There’s the nightlife, quality restaurants and cool cafes spread out around the city and its surrounding areas. There’s the Sky Tower where you can cop a sweet view of Auckland from 220 metres above street level plus test your bravery with two exciting activities: the Sky Jump and the Sky Walk. Nature lovers can also catch a ferry out to volcanic Rangitoto Island for a hike to the summit or to Waiheke Island, the home of vineyards, olive groves, cliff-top walking trails and clean white beaches.

Gold Coast

Feel like some sunshine in your stag do? Get out of New Zealand for a while by jumping on a cheap flight to Queensland’s Gold Coast. There’s so much to do on the Goldie that you’ll wanna make sure you can stay a while. If you love sports, you’re in the right place on the Coast. The Goldie has internationally famous events to suit lovers of any sport. There’s the Gold Coast Triathlon where you can show up and support elite athletes on Saturday then enter the all-ages event yourself on Sunday.

There’s the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro where you can check out top-quality surfing in Coolangatta. If you love car racing, check out the Gold Coast 600, where supercars tear around the track on the sunny streets of Surfers Paradise. Don’t forget about all the Gold Coast’s other awesome activities: the theme parks, the pumping nightlife and of course the breathtaking beaches.
