What do Auckland and the Gold Coast have in common? The glamorous seaside strip in Queensland, Australia and the largest city in New Zealand are both top places to be for those who like the booze. They both pack their share of nightclubs, trendy bars and laidback local joints, craft beer and breweries. Wave goodbye to your friend’s last weekend of bachelorhood by taking a tour of some of the best breweries of either region.
Auckland the Gold Coast have plenty of common ground. They both offer some similar (and similarly spectacular) sights and surrounds, from city skyscrapers to green hills and beaches. Another similarity is their shared love for craft beer and breweries. Choose to take a brewery tour in Auckland or choose to jump on a jet and take off to Queensland’s sunny Gold Coast instead. Whatever you choose, there’s a cold one… make that a FEW cold ones… waiting for you.

Auckland has a number of great breweries spread across its vast area. Some of them include:
Hallertau: This Riverhead brewery has been in the business for over twelve years and a signature 1-6 numbered beer range. The numbers actually represent a selection of different drops from pale ale to session IPA. It’s also the home of sour beers and the Heroic Range, which going by the name alone is already perfect for you and your boys.
The Shakespeare Brewery: To go or not to go? This is New Zealand’s first micro-brew pub and it’s located in a 120-year-old building. With an ever-changing line-up of fresh brews pouring from the taps on the regular, we think “to go” is definitely the best course of action.
Wild On Waiheke: With its must-see vineyards and beaches, Waiheke Island is well worth a visit at the best of times. But even more so for its brewery Wild On Waiheke. This place comes with views of vineyards and green forest-covered hills plus a delightful collection of craft beers small batch brewed on site.
On top of its endless other drinking and partying options, the Coast offers a pretty sweet selection of breweries including:
Black Hops: this Burleigh Heads beauty was voted Australia’s Champion Small Brewery in 2018, so you know it’s gonna be good. It has one-of-a-kind brews like the Bacon Butty (mmm, bacon) and the Eggnog Stout. Get involved!
Burleigh Brewing Co: for some reason, Burleigh Heads just seems to be on the ball when it comes to breweries. These guys are legends in the craft beer scene and their deservedly popular brewery comes with tours and sometimes food trucks and live tunes.
Balter Brewing: this Currumbin gem grew from a single beer – Balter XPA – that a gang of pro- surfers launched in 2016. So it’s hard to imagine anything more Gold Coast. Today there is a selection of brews you can choose from plus a food truck as well.
Fortitude Brewing Co: Tamborine Mountain on the beautiful Gold Coast Hinterland is always worth a visit and this brewery is one of the best drinking spots you’ll find there. Check out great food, live music and a bunch of very tasty brews.
The lads had a ball of a time, if you are a lover of craft beer this is for you.
We were looked after the whole time, it was a great experience.
Great trip with ten of the boys, everyone loved it, it was good to try out some new craft beers.
