stag party ideas

If there’s one thing the LGBTQI community has down pat, it’s knowing how to throw a damn good stag party. Mardi Gras is the only proof we need of their willingness to kick back, let loose and show the rest of us how it’s done.

With the passing of same-sex laws in a growing number of countries across the globe, plenty of your same-sex couple mates are probably getting ready to walk down the aisle, tie the knot and make their relationship legally binding.

This moment was a long-time coming, and we reckon that’s worth celebrating in itself! So, it’s time to start chatting all things gay stag party – because your buddy seriously deserves a send-off like no other. At Wicked Stag, we like to think a little outside of the box when it comes to planning the perfect event, and your gay stag party will be no exception.

Five ideas for your gay stag party

If you’re looking for a place to show off your fabulous outfit and on-fleek brows, a drag show is the place for you. These events promise an absolutely wonderful yet completely outrageous night that you while never forget. Drag performers are practically renowned for making anyone laugh out loud, and will have you singing, dancing and joining in with the games before you know it.

With an OTT cocktail in one hand and the backing track of ABBA, you can relax and enjoy the show. Plenty of performance are held at local restaurants, bars and clubs, which means you can enjoy the sass and spice over a meal or snacks.

So, just like Shania Twain once famously said – Let’s go girls!

Karaoke

You can pretend all you like, but anyone that says they don’t like karaoke is lying. Sure you might moan when your boss suggests it for a team-bonding night out or when you little cousin begs you to join her on SingStar, yet everyone loves it once they get started.

Snag yourself a glass of something bubbly or brightly coloured and get the gang together to start belting out all your favourite tunes. Whether you’re tone deaf or a budding performer, you’ll have an absolute blast behind the mic. And when you wrap up your last song, you can spend the rest of the night boogying and cheering your mates on.

Day Spa

Treat the man of the hour to a luxurious and totally decadent day spa – because lets be honest, he needs all the help on offer to get himself up-to-scratch for the big day. Whether you’re jetting off to a seaside stag destination, hitting it hard in the big smoke or you’re celebrating close to home, you can find a lavish selection of day spas in just about any location.

Depending on the treatment you select, you’ll be able to relax and soak in the feelings of switching off and treating yourself. After your treatments, you can regroup and get ready for an epic afternoon to of fun follow. It must be something to do with the relaxing of your muscles, but our dance moves are always 341% better after we leave the day spa.

Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea

Afternoon tea is seriously the most underrated meal of the day! Because who can say no to bite-sized sandwiches, delicious cakes, sweet treats and plenty of tea or champagne with all your mates?!

Round up the boys and dress in something dapper. This is going to be a prime opportunity to snap a sizzling picture for your ‘gram and make a toast to the soon-to-be-groom. In between feasting, Instagramming and sweet-tasting drinks, you’re guaranteed plenty of laughs and quality time with your nearest and dearest.

Looking for something a little more creative and whacky for your stag party? Why not give it an Alice in Wonderland theme and throw a mad-hatter style event.

Winery Tour

Did someone say beveragino? While you can score a relatively good drop of vino at most local pubs and bars, these does, nothing compares to when you wet your whistle on the wine served at the cellar door.

There is something super intoxicating about visiting a winery for a stag party (it could have something to do with the bucketful’s of wine consumed in the middle of the day) and we’re pretty lucky to have a stellar line up of options across the country.

The focus of these joints is obviously on the wines they produce, but that’s not all they do. Many wineries boast award-winning restaurants with views across the vineyards, where you a gourmet chef will prepare meals that pair perfectly with your favourite drops. If you’ve got partygoers more into beer and spirits, you can usually get your hands on the refreshing beverage of their choice too.

Indulge to your heart’s content while also learning more about the art of producing delicious wine, and you will not be disappointed.
