If you’re an Auckland local, then no doubt you’re already familiar with the Auckland Harbour Bridge. You might have seen it in silhouette at sunset as the sky goes dark red behind it. You may have seen it at night time lit up and casting a glow on the Waitematā Harbour. You might have even driven across it on your way to work in the morning. Now you can celebrate your buddy’s last weekend of bachelorhood by taking a safe, secure and fully guided climb to the summit.
The Auckland Bridge Climb is the work of AJ Hackett, adrenaline entrepreneurs who put New Zealand on the map as a bungy jumping destination (and yes, you can bungy jump from the Auckland Harbour Bridge as well).
This is how your climb goes: You’ll be briefed on safety and given safety gear to wear. You’ll follow your tour guide along walkways that lead under and around the bridge before taking you up the curved arch to the summit. From there you’ll have awesome views of the harbour and the city and be able to spot local landmarks like the Sky Tower.

The Bridge Climb experience is only available in Auckland, of course. But we think you’ll find Auckland is an excellent place to spend a stag do. So what else can you do in the biggest city in New Zealand?
GO OUT: Auckland has nightlife to suit all kinds of clubbers and party animals. Whether you want live music, dance clubs, cocktail bars or pubs, Auckland delivers. Auckland’s inner-city streets like Vulcan Lane, Federal Street, K Road and Fort Street pack their share of cool bars.
EAT: Auckland has so many great restaurants, cafes and food options in general that it’s pretty much impossible to list all of them. Delicious fine European dining, Asian, Middle Eastern food, seasonal local dishes and seafood are just some of the selections on offer. Venue choices range from rustic restaurants to cafes that serve unbeatable coffee and are certain to please everyone from businessmen on a meeting to hungover hipsters.
SKYCITY is not only the home of the Auckland Sky Tower, it’s also the home of over 20 bars and restaurants plus a 24-hour casino. Check out the Viaduct Harbour for over 30 bars and restaurants as well as hip surrounding areas like Kingsland and Ponsonby.
EXPLORE: Auckland is in ferry catching distance to two extremely scenic and relaxing islands. There’s Waiheke Island, with its vineyards, beaches and small towns. There’s also Rangitoto, a volcanic island with black lava caves, pohutukawa forest and views from the summit of the city and the surrounding islands. There are beaches like Piha Beach, a black sand surf beach, and Cheltenham Beach, a sandy strip in the historic village of Devonport.
GET AN ADRENALINE RUSH: You’ve probably heard of the Auckland Sky Tower and its sensational panoramic views of the city. Well, it gets even better. Wander around in the open air with the Sky Walk and – if you’re feeling up to it – take a leap of faith from the top of the tower with the Sky Jump.
