Canyoning

This is a sport that is not for the faint hearted and will truly test your knack for the great outdoors. Canyoning involves abseiling, cliff jumping, swimming, sliding and climbing through a large range of landscapes, including canyons, waterfalls and pools.

Just over an hour from Auckland, Piha Canyon is considered as the ideal place to test your bravery. It is nestled within the spectacular Waitakere Ranges, where you can try your hand at Canyoning in one of the best adventure playgrounds.

Bridge Climb and Bungy Jumping

The Auckland Harbour Bridge is a hugely popular place for tourists. It is actually made up of 3 bridges, with two clip on side lanes being connected to the main bridge.

This is the only Bridge Climbing opportunity in all of New Zealand and goes for approximately 1 and a half hours. When climbing the iconic landmark, you will be provided with insight into Auckland’s history and be able to witness some truly picturesque views at the top of Auckland and its surrounds.

You are able to Bungy jump from the very top and also go for an ocean dip. The walk to the Bungy pod is exhilarating with the drop being a total of 40 metres, which is sure to give goosebumps to even some of the most experience Bungy jumpers.

Skydiving

If Bungy jumping is not exhilarating enough for you, there are opportunities to go even higher and jump out of a plane and skydive over Auckland.

Jetboat

SkyJump & SkyWalk

The Sky Tower in Auckland is famous for being New Zealand’s tallest tower. It provides plenty of awesome photo opportunities, with many spectacular views.

If you are looking for that adrenaline kick, make sure to try the SkyWalk or SkyJump. Doing the SkyWalk will allow for you to talk around the Sky Tower on a platform with no railings on the sides. You are allowed to lean over the edge and get your heart racing, as the harness guarantees your safety. The SkyJump is another exhilarating experience and is known to be quite terrifying!

Dive with Great White Sharks

Another adrenaline activity that is on the bucket list for many is swimming with the sharks. Auckland has aquariums such as Kelly Tarlton’s Sealife Aquarium which is home to some Great White Sharks.

You can choose to either snorkel in a cage or truly test your bravery by scuba diving cageless alongside the sharks. There is also the opportunity to view the sharks from a further distance away, with plenty of other animal exhibits to visit including stingrays, seahorses and penguins.

Sea Kayak Adventure

For those seeking something less adrenaline based and more of an adventure activity, then the Sea Kayak adventure of Rangitoto Island is a must!

It is the largest and most recent volcano in Auckland, which is uninhabited by humans and provides stunning 360 degree views of the Auckland City and its surrounds at the summit.

Mountain Adventure

Another great adventure activity is to reach the summit of Mt Eden. It is a volcano that is approximately 196km above sea level and is known as the highest natural vantage point in Auckland.
